Hence, Computer Engineering offers its students the unique ability to master both the core Computer Science topics, and the core Electrical Engineering items related to Computers. In that regard, just like Mechatronics does for Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering programme is a true merger of the field of Computer Science and a few topics from Electrical Engineering. At City College, the degree programs are jointly administered by the Departments ofComputer Science andElectrical Engineering. The undergraduate program leads to a bachelor’s degree in engineering, and the graduate program to the degree of Master of Science. Digital Systems Lab is designed for the understanding of digital logic concepts and consists of oscilloscopes, digital trainers, digital multimeters, function generators, 8086 microprocessor kits and supporting accessories. Implementation of adders, subtractors, logic circuits,decoders, encoders, multiplexers, combinational circuits, sequential logic circuits, flip-flops, counters and registers also carried out in this lab. It also covers practical implementation of microprocessor and interfacing techniques.

Computer Science & Computer Engineering Laboratories

Students use this lab heavily for designing database solutions, generating queries, implementing interactive processing and developing most suitable GUIs. The Artificial Intelligence Lab focuses on advancing computer vision and decision-making systems necessary for computers to make critical decisions when interacting with the world. It greatly helps students to do where in different areas such as rational decision making, distributed systems of multiple agents, machine learning, reinforcement learning, cognitive learning, game theory, natural language processing and robotics. It is utilized to conduct experiments for communication courses in the field of wired and wireless communication.

Many organizations need computer engineers who can design and build computer networks and systems to provide them with access to the newest technology. This can consist of setting up computer networks, installing new components and upgrading old systems.

Nearly all students in the computer engineering program engage in collaborative research with faculty through internships or independent study. These provide students access to state-of-the-art facilities in computer engineering and computer vision such as those of theLaboratory for Engineering Man/Machine Systems. Ability to identify, formulate, research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences and engineering sciences. But alternatives to Microsoft operating systems occupy a share of the industry, including Apple’s macOS and free and open-source Unix-like operating systems, such as Linux.
